The 2016 Major League Draft takes place June 9-11. In advance of the draft, Prep Baseball Report is posting a summary of each state in the coverage area with scouting reports on the top high school draft prospects.
West Virginia isn’t known for producing draft prospects out of high school, generally sending some players to keep an eye on to college. The last high school prospect to be drafted and signed out of high school was RHP J.R. Bradley in 2010. The Diamondbacks took him in the second round out of Nitro HS, WV, which has produced four of the last five prep picks. The 2016 class is par for the course, with a couple intriguing players to watch as they head to school. Nitro is again on the map with OF Matt Harrison, a Marshall recruit. SS Logan Goodnight (The Linsly School, WV) is headed to Penn State.
