2/05/24
At 6-foot-0, 210-pounds, Morgan is one of the more physical uncommitted players in Alberta’s 2024 class. With the current strength he has, he does a good job of utilizing it all over the field. Behind the dish, Morgan has one of the stronger arms on the West Coast, reaching a catcher velocity of 85 mph, using that to POP 1.84. Although his future home on the defensive side of the ball is likely behind the dish with his ability to block and control the running game, he moves well in the outfield and has a strong arm to contribute in a corner spot. The plate is where his physicality is most noticeable. With a level swing path, he drives balls on a line back up the middle with consistency and authority, reaching a max exit velocity of 97.4 mph at an event last spring. Over the offseason, Morgan hit 106 mph off a tee which shows the strength based swing he possesses. With the offseason gains the AHP product has made, he will be looking to make a big impact on both sides of the ball when the season gets underway.
9/16/23
The 2025 catcher stood out on both sides of the ball all weekend. Behind the dish, he had the strongest arm (81 mph) and best POP time at the event (1.85). During BP, he had a line drive approach back up the middle while maintaining controlled aggression in his swing, reaching a max exit velocity of 93.4 mph. Morgan has flown under the radar up until this point, but that should change as he cemented himself as one of the top catchers in Alberta’s 2025 class.
