There’s no doubt Wheatley is one of the best shortstops in the country and he certainly looked the part this weekend. At first glance he looks the part with his 6-foot-3, 180-pound frame and he stands out on the infield with his actions and arm strength. The right-handed bat wasn’t racking up the hits in Kamloops but on Day Two there was a lot of hard contact and a big hit in a big moment. Recent Liberty commit.

Jack is a tall, very athletic body that screams projectability. He’s got plus glovework and even smoother footwork. Jack crushes the baseball averaging an exit velocity of 85-86 mph off the tee, which for a 2022 grad is incredible. Even more impressive is his maturing approach at the plate, it could be scary! Sits 82-84 mph on the mound, and touches 85-86, with a harder, tighter wipe out slider and a slower bigger-breaking curveball.
