3/14/25

Mitzel had a good day, taking quality swings after catching a heavy dose of pitchers on Scout Day. Standing 6-foot-1, 185-pounds, the 2025 graduate was ready from the jump with a loose and whippy swing. He had the third-highest exit velocity of the day, reaching a peak of 96.9. His setup is simple with loose hands and a strong lower half, turning tight through his swing. A good overall performance from Mitzel.

9/18/24
Mitzel is one of the more defensively mature catchers in the province. He started off the scout day with a 75 mph catcher velocity and a 1.87-2.00 POP time. The arm is accurate and utilizes a quick transfer to help get the ball to 2nd in a timely manner. The bat has steadily improved over the last calendar year, displaying the ability to drive the ball into both gaps with authority. Feel barrel was present and reached a max exit velocity of 93 mph. Added strength will bring Mitzel to the next level, making him one of the better all around catchers in the province.
3/29/24

Towards the end of last year, Mitzel was better known for his defensive ability. He receives and blocks well, and controls the running game. After an offseason of growth and development, the bat has improved substantially. At the Renegades Scout day, Mitzel showed improved bat-to-ball as well as the ability to elevate with authority, working up the middle and to his backside gap, reaching a max exit velocity and 98 mph. The uncommitted 2025 showed us that defensive ability as well, with a catcher velocity of 75 and POP time of 1.95. We’ll keep a close eye on Mitzel this season to see if that improved bat translates to in-game success at the dish.
