One of the more more high-energy athletes at Dawgs Scout Day, Santiago Rodriguez put it all on display. Standing in at a wiry 5-foot-11, 170-pounds, Rodriguez had the best OF velo of anyone on Scout Day, running it up to 92 mph. At the plate he's a little weak in his lower half, but makes up for it with his upper half feel, reaching a peak exit velocity of 87.3 mph, a carry distance of 298 feet, while reaching the sweet spot at an 85% mark. On the mound his arm wasn't a slouch, either, as he lived a respectable 85-86 mph, while dropping in a firm slider at 80-83 mph and a changeup at 80-83 mph. The McCook commit looks right going into senior year.

9/21/23

Rodriguez showed us why he is one the more intriguing 2026s in the province. On the mound, his ability to spin the ball really stood out, and that will only improve with more velocity. His fastball, which sat 83-85 mph, he’s able to generate 2300+ rpm. Creates arm-side-run on it out of a ¾ slot. He has two breaking balls which both profile differently on a horizontal plane. Both the slider and curveball spin at 2150+ rpm. At the plate, Rodriguez elevated the ball with authority, using the entire field. He also had the top OF velocity on the day hitting 84 mph. The young two-way player will be someone to follow going forward.
