'22 RHP Carter Stanford (No. 10, Alabama recruit) opened up the 2021 season on the mound for the Spanish Fort Toros and continued to show why he is regarded as one of the top right-handed arms in the state of Alabama. At 6-foot-4, 210 pounds, Stanford definitely fits the mold of being a starter down the road, and has the arsenal of pitches to go along with it. Fastball worked 87-89, 90 mph during the outing, showed a bit of command issues & worked himself into some fastball counts opening up, but settled in and found a groove. Found the breaking ball at 72-74 mph and landed it more for strikes in the latter innings, which led to more uncomfortable at-bat's. Also flashed a few changeups with arm side fade & tunneled well off the fastball. Thought he really competed well through 4 1/3 IP and kept his team in the game. Polished, clean mechanics with a fluid delivery.
