Positional Profile: 1B/OF Lyman continues to hit each time we see him.

Hit: LHH. Wide base with slightly open stance, controlled leg kick. Strong barrel to ball, fast hands, gap-to-gap approach.
Power: 92.84 max exit velocity, averaged 84.45 mph. 323’ max distance.
Arm: LH.
Defense: Moves through the ball very well with natural actions.
Run: 7.48 runner in the 60.

6-foot-3, 200-pound lengthy solid build. At the plate, Lyman's 97 mph exit velocity ranks him 1st at the event. Began in an open wide stance with a quick load, then used a toe tap stride. Had a simple upward swing plane, explosive bat speed and high finish. Gap to gap approach. His best position velocity in the outfield was registered at 83 mph; has rhythmic footwork, and a lengthy exchange. Used a high ¾ slot with a long arm action.

6-foot-3, 190-pound long proportional frame. Begins in a balanced stance with a compact load while using a toe tap to trigger the swing. Showed above average bat speed and a simple level swing plane. With a mostly up the middle approach, Lyman had a max exit velocity of 91 mph. From the outfield, throws were up to  79 mph with a natural exchange and consistent footwork. Showed a high ¾ slot and a long arm action with consistent accuracy to the plate. In the 60-yard dash, recorded a time of 7.57.  Lyman simply shows up at events and continues to hit. The approach at the plate is definite middle to oppo as he does a nice job staying inside contact while also staying through the hitting zone with the barrel. Because of this, he shows some definite carry to the backside.

Had the biggest day offensively for the Spartans in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Saturday. Hitting out of the 3-hole, Lyman singled sharply through the right side during his first at-bat of the game on a fastball over the plate. In his third at-bat, the left-handed hitter faced a tough look on the mound against a left-handed pitcher that threw from a ¾ arm slot. Lyman showed no issue facing L/L, as he got a hanging slider over the middle of the plate and displayed maturity by driving back up the middle instead of pulling it. This drove home one of his RBI’s on the day. He reached base in his other two plate appearances, via base on balls.

6-foot-2, 165-pound lean frame. In the box, the left-handed hitters best exit velocity was 81 mph. Began in a crouched stance with a smooth load, then used a controlled stride just before his swing. Bat speed is efficient and displays level swing plane. Found multiple barrels with some loud contact. Gap to gap approach. From the outfield, he displayed a position velocity of 76 mph; had a fluid exchange and smooth footwork. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a consistent arm action and a high ¾ slot. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 7.33. On the mound, produced a fastball that came in at 75-76 mph with a max of 76 mph; shows in the zone command and running action. Threw a 2/8 curveball (67-68) with consistent command and sweeping action.

6-foot-2, 165-pound projectable frame. In the box, Lyman had a max exit velocity of 87 mph. Setup includes wide stance and a controlled stride. Bat speed was quick, and had uphill swing plane. He found lots of barrels with loud contact. Pull side approach. From the outfield, he made throws to the infield at velocities up to 76 mph. Showed consistent accuracy to the bases. In the 60-yard dash, his time was 7.98. On the mound, showed a ¾ angle. Sat with his fastball at 71-72 mph with a max of 73 mph. Curveball (60-61 mph), changeup (67-68 mph).

Tall, lanky LHP that showed nice easy arm action from a ¾ arm slot. The FB showed very nice ASR away from RH hitters that was up to 75 mph. The breaking ball was sharp with slider type action and he was able to flip this pitch in for a strike at 66-67 mph. The change up showed signs of being a real weapon as it disappeared late. There will be more velocity in future years which makes him an interesting arm to follow. The lefty showed some nice arm strength from the OF with accurate throws to the plate and a quick transfer before the throw. Swinging from the left side at the plate, he showed some definite tilt in the swing and a solid middle of the field approach. The feet started even from his crouched stance and he really did a nice job of keeping his hands and barrel inside the baseball. Nice fundamentals all over the field for this ‘22 grad
