Shoptaw is a 6-foot-1 175-pound RHP/MIF with a medium frame and an athletic build. As a middle infielder he showed fluid footwork with a quick exchange. He showed and accurate arm with limited carry. Offensively attacks the baseball with an uphill bat path with a long swing. He produced exit velocities of 76 mph. He would benefit from incorporating his lower half on a consistent basis. On the mound he commanded the strike zone with a fastball of 79-82 mph. His secondary pitches lacked shape on a consistent basis. This is caused by his arm dragging behind and limited extension toward home plate. Overall Shoptaw has a clean quick arm from a H ¾ arm slot and will be a player to follow if he cleans up a few mechanical issues and adds strength.
