Mason Ulm, Gilbert (AZ), 2023
Positional Profile: 3B/1B Profiles as a power bat on the corners in the infield. Strong build, will follow development.
Body: 6-foot-3, 200-pounds. Strong and stocky build. Proportionate size throughout body.
Defense: Range is limited; however, feet are active. Glove work is consistent, and would improve with more athleticism.
Arm: R. INF - 82 mph. Throws from a high 3/4 slot. Short arm action, throws from the ear. Ball has some 4 seam carry across the diamond.
Hit: R. Wide setup in stance. Square to the pitcher with hands held shoulder height pushed away from his body. Bat held vertically. Uses no stride, also a small toe tap. Small weight transfer to the backside and holds his ground. Slight uphill path, coming over the top of some balls to the pullside.
Power: Has some leverage, impacts the ball well deep to the left center gap with some loft.
Run: 7.55 runner in the 60.
10/29/17 – Boxy 6-foot-2, 238-pound frame. Showed very well at the event with some of the best raw power and surprising athleticism on defense for his size. Hits from tall, open setup, getting very good extension to a high one-hand finish. Looking to lift and pull. Impressive combination of bat speed and raw power; 89 mph exit velocity. Nimble mover at 3B shows soft hands show good carry on throws from ¾ slot with clean, whippy action. 7.51 60-yard dash.
