6/11/19

6’ 165-pound frame. Fastball was up to 89 MPH, which was a 7 MPH jump from his last event in January. He controlled the zone well, locating fastballs to both sides of the plate. Fastball had arm side life. Spun the ball well at 74-77 MPH. Breaking ball had depth and late break, producing uncomfortable takes and swings. Change up was 63-64, with arm speed and depth.

1/27/19

6’ 160-pound frame. Works into from leg well, blocking lower half to work into and up and over leg to produce arm speed. Quick and loose hips to go along with a fast arm. Simple delivery allows for arm to stay on time to keep the ball down. Fastball was up to 85 MPH, which should jump as he gets stronger. Curveball is more of a slurve at 63-65 MPH. May benefit from focusing on slider to maintain intent while throwing it. Change up with good arm speed and depth at 73-76 MPH.

6/5/18 - 6-foot, 155-pound frame. Taylor has previously spent lots of time behind the plate, but is now more focused on pitching where his ceiling is the highest. Taylor touched 85 mph with his fastball and showed feel for two secondary offerings with a clean arm action and fast, loose hips that should generate even more velo as he matures physically. Spun a tight breaking ball up to 74 mph and also threw a change up at 72-76 mph. Interesting follow that continues to progress every time we see him on the mound.

1/28/18 - 6-foot, 155-pound frame. Two-way prospect previously showed better on the mound but was intriguing on both sides on this occasion. Showed significant improvement offensively and behind the plate. Hits from wide, slightly open stance with short stride and good balance. Has tendency to get long in back of swing, but shows on plane swing and ability to make hard line drive contact; 82 mph exit velocity. Receives well behind the plate, with athletic setup and shows quick transfer and solid footwork on throws to second. 2.07 best pop time with 71 mph velocity with short arm action from lower slot. Posted 7.49 60-yard dash.

10/29/17 – 6-foot, 150-pound frame. Two-way prospect showed best on the mound where his loose arm and clean delivery stand out. Fastball sat 80-81, touching 82 from ¾ slot with occasional late life. Changeup is best secondary pitch, thrown with good arm speed at 73-75. Developing 60-62 mph breaking ball has a bit of a hump in it, but shows consistent rotation. Offensively hits from crouched setup with flat barrel and no stride; 81 mph exit velocity. Turned in a best pop of 2.16 behind the plate with 70 mph arm strength and a quick release, gaining very little ground on his throws to 2B. 7.51 60-yard dash.
