Arm: Right-Handed. INF - 84 mph. Some arm strength with average carry. Accurate to the bag. Clean transfers Defense: Slow tempo with choppy footwork. Relaxed first step. 1/26/20
6-foot-1 170-pounds, lean body with broad shoulders, long legs, some strength & athleticism. Has gotten a bit bigger since we last saw him in December. Starts from a squared base with balance. Uses gathered leg lift, riding back leg into heel plant. Long level swing, creating an arm bar at times. Middle approach with above average contact at 91mph. Had trouble getting into his legs on the low pitches. Easy controlled footwork in the infield with sure hands. Gets around the baseball. Forces hand glove separation before throwing, 82 mph arm strength across the diamond with more in the tank. All-around solid player.
12/15/19
Large 6’ 165lbs build, some strength & athleticism to body with some projectability. Simple repeatable approach at the plate. Starts from balanced setup, rocking into back leg with small leg lift. Hands work back, creating an arm bar occasionally. Lands balanced. Mid/pull mentality with above average pop to LF at 92mph. Above average feet for CINF. Takes good angles, rounding the ball. Fields through the ball creating momentum. Carry & accuracy to the bag at 81mph.
1/27/19 – 5’11 165-pound high wasted frame. Slightly open stance. Quiet stride to get square. Barrel works into the zone well from flat barrel load. High one handed finish from extension through the middle/pull side. Maintains posture well on ball down. Ability to throw from multiple angles. Uses momentum well for 81 MPH throws across the infield. Quick release even with two shuffles. Showed ability to get rid of the ball quicker as well. Good feel for timing.
10/14/18 - 5-foot-11-160 pounds. Candidate for the player to show the biggest improvements from previous looks. His 7.21 60-yard dash and 92 mph exit velo both represent huge jumps, and despite some length on the back side of his swing, Schechterle really drove some balls during his round of BP with big strength in his hands/wrists. Defensive future is likely in a corner OF spot or 1B. On the mound, throws a FB that fades out to the arm side that tops out at 80 mph. Secondary stuff, CB (65-70 mph) and CH (72-74 mph) are both throw for strikes but lack movement and intent to be forces at the next level.
5/20/18 - 5-foot-9, 155-pound frame. The primary third baseman takes short, choppy steps on the infield, tending to play high and bend exclusively from the waist at times. Showed ability to throw from multiple angles, generally preferring a near sidearm slot and posting a 77 mph infield velo. Offensively, hits from a tall, relaxed setup with a very short stride, creating a narrow base. Loads almost exclusively with his hands. Could benefit from getting his foot off the ground and starting his gather earlier, giving him an opportunity to read the pitch and make more hard contact out front. Posted 80 mph exit velocity and 7.46 60-yard dash.
1/7/18 - 5-foot-9, 155-pound frame. Two-way prospect ran his fastball up to 79 mph, sitting 75-77 with occasional movement to the arm aide. Uses short stride, landing on heel and slightly open. Threw two breaking balls from 65-70 mph, both of which are developing pitches with somewhat inconsistent rotation and break. 71-73 mph straight change was best secondary pitch, thrown in the strike zone with good arm speed. Offensively hits from tell, narrow setup with leg kick trigger. Looking to pull with slight uphill path and some length in his swing. Made contact well out in front. 83 mph exit velocity. Used short choppy steps to field the ball on the infield, throwing 76 mph across the diamond from a high ¾ slot. 7.53 60-yard dash.
