1/28/18 - Brooks demonstrated the athleticism necessary to help out a program at some level in college. The 5-foot-11, 160-pound, wiry, athlete ran a 6.83 60-yard sprint to start the day, and continued to bounce all over the field throughout. His swing works uphill through the zone, and while not entirely smooth, there was a bit of twitch present, and he attacked pitches early in counts. With a rocking of the weight back, and a deep, segmented load of the hands, some parts of the setup seem to lead to a scoopy path, at times, but when it all works in sync there is quickness to his hands, and a flat barrel through the zone. Brooks’ feet worked well on the infield as he ranged side to side after a quick first step. His hands were adequate with a bit of a longer arm action that produced throws across the diamond of 74 mph. Brooks skills played up in game as he just found ways to get on base. Given his speed, a school at some level might want to keep an eye on Brooks’ progression this spring because he should be able to play infield or outfield in the future.
