Oregon State commit, currently ranked No. 5 in Arizona’s 2021 class, large build at 6” 200lbs, strength & durability in frame, arguably had one of the top performances at the PBR Fall Review. Has always been a pure hitter looking to do damage. Gathers energy in back leg with minimal forward move & still head, showed some real body control at the plate in his round of BP, good power to LF with upward swing plane hitting some balls out of the ballpark, event high 96mph exit velocity. Defensively, he put in some of the best pop times we have seen from him. Getting rid of it quickly with relaxed movements, Smith threw 1.85-2.06 pop times with 76 mph arm strength. Continue to show why he is a highly regarded recruit in the state of Arizona.

5-foot-11, 180 pound frame. Broad shoulders, strong lower half. Wide base with very short stride. Hands and back elbow rock back creating separation. Barrel takes an efficient path to the baseball. Looking to get extended and lift the baseball. Lead arm works up as posture begins to tilt backwards into contact; 86 mph exit velocity. Smith has always been able to hit, but there was some question whether or not he would be able to stick behind the plate. Smith appears to be making a jump in that regard, turning in a significantly improved 1.98 best pop time with 72 mph velocity from the crouch. Also turned in a 7.58 60-yard dash.

Solid 5-foot-11, 180-pound frame with thick lower half. Advanced swing with ability to drive the baseball to all fields. Was on time with high-level pitching in game action and showed the ability to square up the baseball. There’s very little question Smith will be a high-level hitter as he continues to mature. 2.08 best pop time with 70 mph velocity from the crouch. Throwing ability will dictate what level prospect he becomes. Shows quick transfer. 7.73 60-yard dash.

5-foot-11, 180-pound frame. Quiet, mature approach in the box. Elevated the baseball with authority to all fields in BP. Creates some lag with the barrel. Impressive 88 mph exit velocity for freshman prospect. Worked out in the outfield, infield and behind the plate. Profiles best at catcher or first base with present combo of athleticism/arm strength. Posted 77 mph infield velo and 78 from the outfield. Used quick transfer to turn in best pop time of 2.11 with 69 mph velocity.

Stocky 5-foot-9, 170-pound frame shows some present strength. Hits from a balanced, relaxed setup, creating good separation. Easy rhythm with some feel to hit and a slight uphill path. Impressive 87 mph exit velocity for age. Shows good feet behind the plate and receives well. Consistently popped 2.14-2.15; improvement of arm strength with age and development will dictate what level prospect he becomes.
