2020 DRAFT: At 6-foot-2, 230 pounds, the big-bodied, strong-armed right-hander sits in the upper-90s with his heater which flashes arm side run and some sink. He also features a hard curveball (some may call it a slider) that ranges from 82-87 mph. It's a 70-grade swing/miss weapon when he lands it, and at other times is just more of a chase pitch that lesser hitters will get themselves out on. Dillard is max effort and throws just two speeds; hard and harder, needing the whole plate to throw strikes. He has a pure reliever profile as a one-inning blow-n-go arm using his extreme velocity and power breaker for the back end of games at the pro level. With a strong start to his 2020 season (2-0, 1.08, 8.1 IP, 3 BB, 11 SO) Dillard solidified his draft status as a likely top five round selection this summer.

9/23/19: Strong armed, strong bodied righty Trey Dillard launched max-effort fastballs to the plate in the 94-96 mph range. These gun readings were a little down from past reports of near triple digits both in the Cape this past summer and earlier looks this fall from the scouting community. Overall, it’s a pure reliever profile for Dillard who should thrive in pro ball with a one-inning blow-n-go approach with a two pitch, power arsenal; his heater and hard, low-80s curveball which shows 70-grade action when thrown over the plate. With good health and a strong performance this spring, look for Dillard to be selected during the early rounds of Day Two this June.

8/21/19: Used mostly as a long reliever/split starter this summer, 6-foot-2, 230 pound RHP Trey Dillard (Missouri, 2020) sat in the upper-90s with his fastball while also showing a plus 11/5 curveball at 81-84 mph. He’s max effort and throws just two speeds; hard and harder, needing the whole plate to throw strikes. He struck out 22 with nine walks in 19.2 IP. Dillard profiles to the back of the bullpen in pro ball where his extreme velocity and power breaker can close out ball games. (Seifert)
