Ricci is a solid young switch-hitting catcher who has shown the ability to handle high-calibre BC pitching behind the dish. He shows good footwork, quick hands, and a decent throwing arm. Before the Covid shutdown of the Coquitlam Reds PBL season, we saw Ricci handle left-hander Giordano Mezzomo well, calling a good game and tacking on a solid opposite-field base hit from the left side of the plate. At the IP showcase last February, Ricci capped out with a 92 MPH exit velocity and showed consistency with his approach from both sides of the plate. Ricci is a hard worker who enjoys the craft of catching, working well with his pitching staff and is curious about how he can help his pitchers have success. Ricci could be the ultimate sleeper from behind the plate in this class; keep tabs on him.

This young switch-hitting catcher has shown the ability to handle left-handed 90-guy, Giordano Mezzomo, fairly routinely behind the plate in the early stages of the season pre-COVID shut down. In a Late February game, we saw him catch a good defensive game for Mezzomo who was sitting with a fastball breaking ball mix of 88-90 and 75-78, in a victory over the UBC Thunder. Ricci looked solid for one of his first Sr. PBL games and added a nicely stroked opposite field RBI single over the shortstop’s head on a 2 strike outside fastball. An interesting sleeper in the 2021 catcher pool.
