4/23/25

One of the better performers on site at the Island FGT, our staff got a good look at 2026 shortstop Will Henzi. A product of the Eagles program checking in at 6-foot, 170-pounds, Henzi is one of the best defensive infielders on the Island. His hands work with ease as he floats around the infield, showing confidence as he approaches the ball and releasing it from multiple slots. He reached a max arm velocity of 84 mph across the diamond. Offensively his bat has historically lagged a bit behind, but this was the best we've seen it to date. He keeps it very simple, starting from a loose, upright stance as he uses a leg-lift timing mechanism to get his foot down on-time. His bat stays through the zone and he showed some strength, reaching a peak exit velocity 86.3 mph and carry distance 273 feet. It'll be interesting to see how Henzi develops, as he's a good mover who will only benefit from added strength.
