9/25/25

2025 BC Fall Invite
Despite the fastball velocity down a touch from where we’ve seen him, Dartnell flashed a unique arsenal with feel for several secondary pitches, including a recently added splitter that could be a weapon going forward. 5-foot-10, 165-pound right-hander has good direction on the mound and the fastball has more sinker shape, sitting 79-80 T81mph during Wednesday’s bullpen. There was feel for the curveball at 66-68mph with late break, and he also featured a slider at 65-67mph and splitter at 70-71mph, killing the spin on the pitch with sub-1000 rpm spin. Dartnell has stuff that will generate outs and it will be interesting to see where the velocity is in the new year. The UBC Thunder product also swung the bat well with a Sweet Spot% of 71%, Line Drive% of 50% and peak exit velocity of 84.7mph.

4/16/25

Good look at 2027 graduate Ben Dartnell, another quality player from the UBC Thunder program. Standing 5-foot-10, 160-pounds, he showcased at first base and on the mound. Offensively it's a simple, no-stride approach. His hands start quietly, and with minimal movement he does a good job of driving his barrel through the zone with some authority, reaching a peak exit velocity of 81.6 mph and carry distance of 276 feet. His timing was on, as he also caught the sweet spot of his bat at an impressive 75% mark. On the mound he showed sporadic command with his fastball at 77-79 mph (T80.4) and two breaking pitches in the mid/high 60s.
