Laird has shown the ability to impact the game in a multitude of ways over the 2024 summer season and he continued to do that against the top-level talent at the Future Games. In the box, he starts with his hands low in an unorthodox position, but gets in a good hitting position and spray line-drive all over the park, extends AB’s and keeps the line moving with his walks. The 60 time isn’t eye popping, hovering around a 7.00, but he gets good jumps and is a smart base runner who creates havoc for opposing teams. He led the BCPBL in AVG, SLG, and was 2nd in OBP as a sophomore, and will be an exciting follow as his body continues to mature.
7/04/24
Laird continues to stand out each time our staff has eyes on him and continues to flash good bat-to-ball skills against older competition. Smaller stature right now at 5-foot-10, 175-pound and moves well on the dirt and pasepaths. Contact-first bat from the left-side and consistently utilizes the entire field. Has handled velocity and more mature pitchers well throughout the course of 2024 and has established himself as one of the more intriguing offensive profiles in Canada’s 2026 class. Will be a fun four-day follow at the Future Games later this month.
5/23/24
Laird showed us why he is one of the top hitters in his class at the BC Future Games Trials. The 2026 grad stands at 5-9, 175Ibs and has advanced bat-to-ball that you’d be hard pressed to find anywhere else in the country. He has a short swing path, looking to elevate to the big part of the field. The barrel control was evident, with every ball being hit between the gaps, and 10 of 12 were over 87 mph reaching a max exit velocity of 96 mph. Laird was one of the top hitters on the Langley Blaze pro Tour back in March despite being one of the youngest players there.
