Positional Profile: RHP
Body: 6-2, 180-pounds. Long and strong, prototypical pitcher build with strength in legs and ample room in the upper body to fill out.
Delivery: Simple small rocker into mid-torso high lift, in-line stride, creates leverage against front side, head stays quiet, balanced at somewhat upright finish, 5.9 average extension w/6.42 avg release height.
Arm Action: RH. Clean on backside with mid-thigh depth, fingers above ball out of the glove, hides ball from hitter's view until getting to high-3/4 release, full finish through deceleration takes pressure off the shoulder.
FB: T87, 83-86 mph. Attacks with FB while using it to keep hitters honest, feel of arm side location and in to RHH, max spin 2252 (1992 avg), flashed above average run, usable FB with a bit more in the tank.
SL: 73-75 mph. Lower spin slider plays a bit like a CB with smaller break, used well on both sides of the plate, consistently around the zone with depth get defensive swings, plays well off his ability to pound the FB inside to RHH, 2035 max spin (1954 avg).
CH: 78-80 mph. Low spin CHG (1267 avg) that bottoms out in the zone with depth, flashes as swing and miss pitch that can also induce GBs, extension mirrors FB though release height drops slightly off the FB look.
Positional Profile: RHP/OF
Body: 6-2, 175 lbs: Compact athletic body with longer limbs. Projectable frame.
Hit: Athletic swing. Uses a leg kick trigger as his hip and torso internally rotate well for some good coil. Hands/bat load into scalp. Level stroke through the zone that consistently caught balls out in front for a pullside approach. Average bat speed. Flew open the front side at times.
Power: 95mph exit velocity. 342ft max distance. Current gap to gap power. Top spun some high exit velo balls during BP that would make it to the wall if back spun.
Defense: Athletic approach to the ball. Stays low throughout and gloves it clean. Slower in getting to release as he had some trouble with exchanges. ¾ accurate throws from the outfield that was on one hop. Average arm strength.
Run: 7.32 laser timed 60.
Mechanics: Exclusive from the stretch. Simple delivery. Uses a higher knee tuck that works straight up and down the mound. Lower half works in good direction. Full loose arm action in the back that comes out of the ¾ slot. Effortless arm speed where the ball comes out easy. Struck out 4 hitters in his outing.
FB: Nothing special in terms of movement characteristics but located it well and didn’t leave it too good in the zone.
SL: Sweeping movement characteristics with not much vertical break. Showed ability to throw it for strikes and as a chase pitch.
Area Code Tryout - Uncommitted; Long athletic body type, has some present strength in lower half, overhand slot, modest arm speed as it's mostly an arm strength stroke, FB 84-86, 11/6 shaped CB (71-72) and 77-78 CHG with some run and nice look off the FB.
