6-foot-3, 205-pound, physically strong, athletic frame, hands and forearms have some strength. A left-handed power hitter, who possesses above average juice to all fields. The stance is slightly open to even and a bit wider than shoulder width. The hands are loose just above the back shoulder. The swing path is level to up, with lift and leverage in his swing. The tee exit velocity was 86 mph and he ran ok, has an athletic kick was and 4.77 down the line. Defensively, a converted catcher into first baseman, hands are soft and starts from the ground up. The arm action is short and quick, clocked at 75 mph across the diamond. The footwork was good on drop steps in starting the double play. In game performance was good, collected a couple hits. Cooney has a chance to be a big time power bat.

At 6-foot-3, 200-pounds the frame is large and has some serious strength to him. Hits from the left side, the stance is a bit wider than shoulder width and slightly open. The hands are set above the shoulders and are loose with a little movement to them, trigger is small. The lower half is under control with a small stride. The path is level through the zone and finishes with one hand, does a very good job of keeping the barrel in the zone, showed the ability to go the other way, plate coverage is good. The tee exit velocity was 81, with much more in there. Runs well for a big kid, was 4.46 down the line. Behind the plate, setup is balanced, the front side is weak, throws with only his arm, needs to get more of entire body involved. The arm was 65 on the gun and times to second were 2.27-2.44. The potential to hit and hit with big power is there, reps and at bats are a key, big time bat for me.
