8/23/18
6-foot-5, 190-pound, large, lean, lengthy athletic frame. The neck is long, shoulders are squared off, has room to fill out and put weight on. A left-handed pitcher, has an athletic leg raise, coil to it and gets into a good strong gather position. The separation has tilt to the backside, sits on the back leg, lead leg direction is inline and has length to it. The front side, lead glove stays on track, with minimal pull. The arm action has average length to it, its clean, works with easy effort, comes out of a ¾ slot. The extension is good, gets out front on release, slight leak of the head. The fastball was clocked at 77 mph, with action to arm side. The breaking ball has a bigger top to bottom break, clocked at 63 mph, thrown for strikes, showed the ability to place it on the back foot of right-handed hitters. Works off of deception, created a ton of swing and misses, not easy to square up. Good projection.

6-foot-4, 190 pounds, lanky, slim, long-limbed lefty with plenty of room to add strength heading into his junior season. Throws from a ¾ slot with a simple delivery. Would do well to add some more drive off his back leg. Worked his fastball between 71-76 mph. Generated good tailing action on the pitch, diving away from right handed batters. Will need to harness fastball command and to reach the next level. There is more velocity to tap into with the frame. Could see a spike heading into his junior season. His curveball sat between 60-62 mph. Still a developing pitch, but flashes the potential with its 12/6 shape. Needs to tighten the spin and generate sharper break, as it can come in a little loopy. With his frame, should prove durable and able to log innings. Adding a third pitch to his arsenal would be beneficial. Overall, Reed has the frame to take a big leap in his developmental path. He will need to better his command and continue working on his curveball, but the potential is there.
