Cole Gibson: RHP, (2024) Fairfield Ludlowe High School, CT. New Haven Commit, 6-foot-3, 205-pound mature strong frame. Raw projectable on the mound, showed a high ¾ arm angle and a long loose arm action with lightning arm speed. Tall-and-fall up-tempo type pitcher who uses some effort. Downhill falling off shoulders with a strong balance point. Lands hard with an athletic finish. Threw his fastball 86-89 mph; had plus action and control both sides of the plate down in the zone with heavy movement. (Max spin 1990; Avg 1890). His 1/7 curveball (67-70) shows swing and miss slurvey action and glove side control. (Max spin 2080; Avg 1951). His changeup (75-78) had fading action and arm side control. Huge future at the college level, physical enough to be a potential pro at some point.
6-foot-3, 200-pound athletic mature build. Advanced during batting practice, Gibson displayed an exit velocity of 91 mph, 3rd Best EV of the day. Begins in an athletic wide stance with a compact load, then uses a short stride. Bat speed was electric, used an upward swing plane and high finish. He barreled up multiple balls with tons of loud contact. Pull side approach. Smooth in the outfield, he showed the ability to make throws to the bases at 82 mph; had a twitchy exchange, athletic footwork, and soft hands. Laterally, movements were quick and fielded the ball out front. Had a high ¾ slot and a loose long arm action with consistent accuracy to the base. Recorded a 60 time of 7.75 at the event. Above average on the mound, showed quick arm speed, also used a long loose arm action and a high ¾ arm angle. Tall-and-fall type pitcher and uses some effort. Balance point is tall with even shoulders during delivery. Lands square with an athletic finish. Threw his fastball 79-83 mph; had sinking action and both sides of the plate command with heavy movement. (Max spin 2160; Avg 2102). Throws a 1/7 curveball (67-70) that has slurvey late action and glove side command. (Max spin 2242; Avg 2054). Shows arm side control and fading action on his changeup (66-72).
