7/12/16

6-foot-3, 200-pound, Sacred Heart University Commit: The frame is long and lengthy, shoulders are sloped, with room to fill out. A right-handed pitcher, the delivery has tempo and timing to it. The hands start high, with step back they lower and then raise up with lead leg into gather position. The arm path is clean and a little longer on the back, no hesitation at all. The ball comes out of a natural ¾ slot, with sink and run to his 83-85 mph fastball, has a ton more left in his arm. The changeup has good fade and action to the arm side, uses his entire body to sell it and was clocked in the mid-70’s. The breaking ball is turning into more of a slurve pitch, was thrown at 68-70 mph, needs to turn it into a slider. Times to the plate were 1.47. A three pitch pitcher, pounds the zone with good strikes and is one of the better arms around.

3/2/16
6-foot-3, 190-pound physical body frame, arms and legs are long, plenty of room to fill out. A right-handed pitcher, the delivery is simple and repeatable. The hands are set at mid chest, leg raise is high and under control, stride length is good and finishes in line. The arm action is clean, works fluidly and has some length to it. The ball comes out of a natural ¾ slot. The fastball clocked at 80-82 mph, has a little sink to arm-side. The changeup is his best pitch, sells it with his entire body, thrown at 70-71 mph with fade to the arm-side. Slider got to 74 mph, good shape and late break. The delivery and tempo need to be picked up and ball will come out better. The arm is really clean, has a ton more in there and times to the plate were 1.66.

Second event for Cooper, showed very well was impressive. The delivery is simple, easy leg raise, hands stay in the middle of the body, extension and finish are direct. The arm action is a little longer but is free and easy, comes at you out of a ¾ slot. The fastball was 80-82 with life, down in the zone, good sink and run to it. The breaking ball is more of a small slider at 70-71. Showed major feel for the changeup, was 73, came out of his hand, looking like a fastball. Times to the plate ranged from 1.03 slide step to 1.59 with a leg kick. The velocity has gone up two MPH since the summer, has turned the curveball into a slider, which has a chance to be a plus pitch down the road. The frame is large at 6-foot-3, as he continues to get stronger, conditioning gets better, velocity will climb again, velocity has jumped after a heavy workload from summer and fall. The future is bright, definite follow for me, need to see in spring time.

7/14/15
This big 6-foot-3, 185-pound, RHP, has a large pitchers frame, with room for growth. His fastball was 78-82, he pitches out of a ¾ slot, the arm action is clean and effortless. The motion is a bit slow, if he can speed it up a little bit, the ball may come out a little faster. The changeup was a plus pitch, it was 74-77 with good depth and proper rotation. His curveball had proper rotation but was thrown at 63. The breaking ball needs to be cleaned up a little bit. Set position times were 1.10-1.20, he understands how to pitch out of the stretch and hold runners. All the makings are there, he needs to get in better shape, which will help speed the motion up. Definite follow for me.
