Gavin OBrien: OF/3B, (2023) East Lyme, CT. 6-foot-3, 180-pound athletic frame. Above average during batting practice, Obrien recorded an exit velocity of 91 mph. (76.88 mph bat speed average). (24.89 mph hand speed average). Starts in a wide stance with a controlled load, then uses a small leg kick stride. Bat speed was above average, used an uphill swing plane and good extension on his finish. Produced loud contact and found lots of barrels. Gap to gap approach. Athletic in the outfield, his throws to the bases were maxed out at 76 mph; had consistent footwork, sure hands, and a clean exchange. Fielded the ball out front with athletic movement laterally. Clocked a 60 time of 7.3 at the event.

Hit: (RHH) Above average. Starts in a wide stance with a controlled load, then uses a small leg kick stride. Above average bat speed. Good extension on his finish, uphill swing. Gap to gap approach. 

Power: 91 mph exit velocity, average 86.44 mph. 76.88 mph bat speed average. 24.89 mph hand speed average.

Defense:  (OF) Sure hands, consistent footwork, clean exchange. Athletic.  Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. 

Arm: 76 mph outfield velocity. 

Speed: 7.30 (60-yard).



6-foot-2, 160-pound, longer, lean athletic frame, with plenty of room for added weight gains. A right-handed hitting outfielder, at the plate, a wider setup, slightly open, hands are at the shoulders. For timing uses a small toe tap, gets back to even. The swing is level to up, hands inside, shows the ability to go to right-center without much effort. Creating backspin to the baseball, took a solid round of batting practice, had an exit velocity of 87 mph and ran a 7.69 sixty-yard dash. Defensively, gets good jumps and starts on balls in outfield, glides and covers ground. The approach is under control, stepping through into a quick shuffle. The arm action is long and clean, threw 73 mph, more in there as he physically matures. Good looking athlete in the 2023 class.

6-foot-2, 140-pound, long, lengthy athletic frame. Long neck, rounded shoulders, with plenty of room for added weight. A right-handed hitting outfielder, who is very athletic, runs well above average, ran a 4.05 from home to 1st. At the plate very simple, balanced approach a wider setup, even feet, higher loose, relaxed hands. Minimal stride, more pick up and put down. The swing is level across the chest, short to the baseball, gets through it, finishing above the shoulders78 mph, with two-hands. The barrel has life and whip out front on contact, had a tee exit velocity of 78 mph, with much more in there. Driving the baseball to the middle of the field, look for pull power at some point. Defensively, threw 71 mph from the outfield, longer clean arm action form a high 3/4 slot. Approach is under control, gains ground body works with minimal effort. Look for him to stick in centerfield, will be able to go get it in the gaps. A regimented throwing program and added strength will aid in his development, big time follow.

6-foot-130-pound, longer, athletic frame, neck is long, shoulders are sloped with plenty of room to fill out. Shows to be an athlete, good actions and movements. A right-handed hitting two-way player, at the plate, feet start even at the shoulders, uses a small athletic controlled leg kick. The hands are set just above the shoulders are loose and relaxed. The swing is level to up, barrels stays in zone a long time, approach being line drives to the middle of the field. Slight opening of chest at times, that can be corrected fairly quick. The baseball has some bounce off the bat, tee exit velocity 73 mph, with much more in there with added strength. Defensively, prep steps are above average, gets around the baseball with momentum moving in the correct direction. The flow and actions are very good, are clean, with hands and feet working together. The arm was clocked at 69 mph, should climb rather quick. The backhand play was made with ease, correct footwork. Love the feel for the game at a young age, high follow.
