3/22/22

Although he’s not Canadian, there’s no doubt Hayden Miller (College of Charleston commit) has been one of the best bats these past few days in Phoenix. It’s a strong right-handed bat from Connecticut who blasted a home run on Tuesday and has had a ton of hard contact throughout the three days of games. The bat will be the carrying tool going forward but he’s shown this week that it can play against some high-level competition.

PROCASE

5-foot-11, 190-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder. He turned in a solid workout at the event. The glove is solid in the field as he moves athletically to and through the baseball. The handles the pivot with ease and plays with a nice confidence about him. He thew 86 mph across the diamond with accuracy. The foot speed is solid as he ran a 6.9 on the laser. The bat has an exit velocity of 92 mph. The setup is even in base and he uses a pick up and put down of the front foot as the ball approaches the hitting zone. The hands work free and clean to the baseball. He barreled up the ball consistently and showed a good feel for spreading the field.

Future Games

5-foot-11, 185-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder. He is a good prospect and it showed in Dubois. He ran a 6.93 sixty on the laser at the event. The approach in the infield is active with the feet and the glove is slick. He threw 86 mph across the diamond during the infield portion of the workout. The ability to handle the pivot is done with ease. The bat has an exit velocity of 94 mph. The setup is even in base and the bottom half is under control throughout the swing. The path is simple and clean to the ball. He gains strength and keeps progressing, lookout.

7/21/20

Miller is a solidly built 5-foot-11, 185 pound right-handed hitting infielder. He hits out of a balanced, even stance. The hands are set just off the back shoulder and relaxed. The load begins with a knee slide to get the weight to the back leg and the hands push into a strong hitting position. The swing plane is flat through the zone and he showed the ability to drive the ball gap to gap with carry and an exit velocity of 92 MPH.

Defensively, he showed athletic actions and a live arm in the middle of the diamond. The feet were light as he moved to get into the fielding position. Miller moves well laterally and the arm showed life at 83 MPH across the diamond. He also showed good foot speed with a 6.7 second sixty.

7/17/19

5-foot-11, 165-pound, average athletic frame, longer neck, rounded shoulders, plenty of room for added weight. A right-handed hitting, two-way player,  at the plate, even balanced setup, feet set slightly wider, than shoulder width. The hands are loaded up, tilted bat, are strong, ready to hit. The swing is level through the zone, finishes high with two hands. The approach is from gap to gap, keeping hands inside the baseball. The tee exit velocity was advanced for his age at 86 mph, and ran well down the line at 4.38, long quick strides. Defensively, threw 81 mph from a natural slot. Looks to field from the ground up, slower controlled prep steps into the catch. The starts and turns on the double plays were performed correct. Off the mound is where is has chance to be a dude. The arm action is short, clean and quick, working out of a higher 3.4 slot. The lead arm has minimal pull, lower half is inline, shorter stride, staying behind and pitching down hill. The fastball reached, 80 mph, locating to both sides with ease. The breaking pitch needs more fastball hand speed, clocked at 64 mph, shows proper spin and tilt with 11/5 break. The changeup was clocked at 70-71 mph, with fade action to it. The feel and pitch ability is advanced at this age, look for him to be one of the better arms in the class of 2022.
