Begins in a balanced athletic stance with a controlled load, then uses a short stride. Has above average bat speed, loose uphill swing plane and good extension on his finish. He found lots of barrels with loud contact. Aggressive approach. Above average projectable from the outfield, he showed the ability to throw at velocities up to 81 mph; has a clean exchange, athletic developing feet, and soft developing hands. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Consistent accuracy to the bases, used a loose arm action and a high ¾ slot. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.21.

Hit: (RHH) Above average. Started in a balanced athletic stance with a controlled load, then used a short stride. Above average bat speed. Good extension on his finish, loose uphill swing. Aggressive approach.
Power: 61.64 mph bat speed average. 20.95 mph hand speed average.
Defense: (OF) Soft developing hands, athletic developing footwork, clean exchange. Above average projectable. Laterally, movements were athletic and fielded the ball out front.
Arm: 81 mph outfield velocity. Loose arm action, high ¾ slot, consistent accuracy.
Speed: 7.21 (60-yard).
6-foot-3, 170-pound long, lengthy, wider back, squared off shoulders, with room for added weight gains. Above average during batting practice, Schmedlen had an exit velocity of 91 mph. Started in a wide balanced stance with a smooth controlled load, then used a small leg kick.Bat speed was explosive, displayed a short flat swing plane and high finish. Had tons of loud contact and found multiple barrels. Pull side approach. Above average in the outfield, he showed the ability to make throws to the bases at 83 mph; had soft hands, a twitchy exchange, and quick aggressive footwork. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Used a long arm action and a high¾ slot while showing consistent accuracy to the base. Clocked a time of 7.5 in the 60-yard dash. Above average on the mound, showed quick arm speed, he had a high ¾ arm angle with a loose arm action. Tall-and-fall type pitcher and shows some effort. Has even shoulder with an strong balance point. Lands square with an athletic finish. Threw his fastball 76-78 mph; shows hard action and consistent control. Has command low in the zone and slurvey action on his 1/7 curveball 68-70 mph. His changeup 69-71 mph; showed fading action and arm side control. Love the projection on this one.
