A fastball with hop has a flat approach angle and visually jumps through the zone. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher swing and miss average. Hop+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Sink+
A fastball with sink has low backspin and drops through the strike zone. When thrown down in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher ground ball percentage and lower launch angle. Sink+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Rise+
A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
Curveball
Hammer+
A hammer breaking ball drops vertically with velocity through the zone, or 12-to-6 movement. Hammer+ of 100 is MLB average.
Curveball
Sweep+
A sweeping breaking ball moves horizontally with velocity through the zone. Sweep+ of 100 is MLB average.
Nicolas Martini: SS/RHP, (2025) New Fairfield, CT. 6-foot-2, 175-pound athletic lean build. Projectable and athletic at the plate, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 90 mph. (71.9 mph bat speed average). (20.2 mph hand speed average). Began in a balanced wide stance with a controlled load, then used a small stride. Bat speed was developing, had a loose uphill swing plane and a front foot finish. Produced loud contact and found multiple barrels. Gap to gap aggressive approach. Projectable and athletic while in the infield, recorded position velocities up to 80 mph; had a natural clean exchange, developing athletic footwork, and twitchy soft hands. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a loose arm action with a high ¾ slot. During the event, recorded a 60 time of 7.28. Projectable and capable on the mound, showed developing arm speed, also used a high ¾ arm angle and a short consistent arm action. Up-tempo type pitcher and uses some effort. Has a consistent balance point and in line shoulders. Lands closed with a falling off finish. Threw his fastball 80-81 mph; showed command arm side around the zone and running action. (Max spin 2198; Avg 2044). His curveball (69-70) showed sweeping action and glove side control. (Max spin 2280; Avg 2069).

5-foot-8, 126-pound, thin, young athletic frame, sloped shoulders with room for added weight and strength gains. A right-handed hitting middle infielder, at the plate, lower relaxed hand set, more vertical setup, even feet at the shoulders. The lower half is under control, small pick up and put down. The swing is short to contact, a down to level path. The hands stay inside the baseball, with more of a middle approach. The hands need more separation form frame, will add juice to the swing. The tee exit velocity was clocked at 70 mph and ran a 8.13 sixty-yard dash. Defensively, the approach is under control, gets around the baseball, feet move throughout, could stay lower through transfer and release. The hands are soft on the catch and showed feel around the bag turning the double plays. The arm action is clean, working from a higher slot, clocked at 65 mph, all throws were on target. Will need to add strength over time.
