7/17/18
6-foot-2, 180-pound, Committed to Central Connecticut State University after the event. A right-handed pitcher, has simple controlled delivery, hands start high, work down in rocker step and then back up with his controlled leg kick. On release, is squared up to the plate and gets out front on the finish and stays on target. The arm action is clean on the backside, works out of a high ¾ slot. The fastball touched 84 mph, lives down in the zone. The breaking ball is hard at 72 mph, gets on the side of it at times. The velocity sticks when he works out of the set position, times to the plate were at 1.15. Good looking arm, more in the tank, good sign.
6/20/18

6-foot-2, 180 pounds, average athletic build with some projection in the upper body, good strength in the legs. A right-handed pitcher, Valeriano has showed year-over-year development, making gains both physically and in skill growth. Has the athleticism to repeat his mechanics and was consistent in release point in his pitches. The hands start high before dropping as he proceeded to leg kick, working from the first base side of the rubber. Valeriano hides the ball well and gets downhill plane on pitches, with average extension on the stride. Free and easy on the arm swing, looks effortless. Working a three pitch mix, Valeriano showed a spike in fastball velocity from last year sitting mostly 80-81 MPH, and touching 83 MPH. The pitch at its best gets some sink, though can also get a little true when working up. Filled up the lower half of the zone in game action. Best pitch is the curve, coming in between 67-72 MPH with a 12/6 shape. Valeriano located the pitch and showed an ability to work backwards off of it. Good bite and generated swings-and-misses in game. Minimal changeup use at 71 MPH. Will need to develop feel for it moving forward.

7/26/17
6-foot-1, 190 pounds, broad shoulders, thick, strong upper and lower halves with room to continue improving his conditioning. Quick feet, nimble around first base. The glove works and he has a clean arm action, throwing 81 mph across the diamond. Offensively, showed off power during his batting practice round, with a middle-pull approach as he found the left-center gap with consistency. The feet set slightly wider than shoulder width, with the loose hands working from the letters. Shows good extension with his one hand follow through, accelerating right through the ball at the point of contact. The bat path is level-up, with a slight step into the pitch built into the swing. On the mound, Valeriano releases the ball between a high ¾ and pure over the top slot. He throws a heavy fastball when working low in the zone, clocked between 75-78 mph. The curveball sat between 69-71 mph, that shows potential with a 12/6 shape. Learning to command the pitch more effectively is the next step. The changeup is still developing, and was thrown between 69-72 mph. When kept down in the zone, showed good fading action. Overall, Valeriano shows promise as a position player and pitcher. If his secondary pitches come along and he continues gaining velocity, he could very well make a big jump on the mound.

Home-First: 5.19

Exit Velocity: 78 MPH
