is a projectable 6-foot-4, 230-pound right-handed pitching prospect. On the mound, Sotero threw from a high ¾ arm slot that produces a fastball that sits 81-84 mph (Max spin 2257; Avg 2188) with some arm side run. The delivery is clean. He uses simple movements to get to a good position at the top. He separates well and lands square with an athletic finish. Sotero also featured a hard, 12/6 curveball (72-74 mph)(Max spin 2224; Avg 2157) and a fading changeup (75-76 mph).
10/14/20
6-foot-4, 222-pound, strong, durable athletic frame. Stronger lower half. A right-handed pitcher, who works from the set position. Loaded on the backside, tall and strong. The direction is inline to the plate, clean separation, arm action is short and clean on the backside, working from a high 3/4 slot. The arm is free and easy, working with minimal effort. The fastball comes out well, clocked at 77 mph, with a ton more in there. Mixed in a small slider at 66 mph, shows proper spin and shape to it. The changeup was clocked at 67-69 mph, arm side fade action. Mixed all three pitches, body is under control, look for big things from this one down the road.
10/14/20
6-foot-4, 222-pound, strong, wide physical frame, already filled out. A right-handed pitcher, worked out in the infield as well. Off the mound, works from the set position. The hands start lower, raise up with leg lift, loaded on back side. The direction is inline, squared up on release, arm works from natural slot, free and easy action. The fastball was clocked at 77 mph, with arm side action. The breaking ball was clocked at 62 mph, bigger top to bottom break, thrown for strikes. Also mixed in a true changeup, arm side run, with good shape to it. Using the entire body to pitch the baseball. At the plate, even feet, lower loose hands, swing is short to contact, more of a middle to pull approach. Showing strength in the swing, has some power to gaps, had an exit velocity of 88 mph. Defensively, soft glove out front, moves through the baseball, arm was clocked at 70 mph. Projecting out off the mound more for me, continued strength training and overall conditioning, will aid in his development.
