Procase (June 26, 2017)

3/1/17

5-foot-9, 156-pound, average athletic frame, the hands have some fast twitch actions to them. Committed to FDU, a right-handed hitter has a gap to gap approach, showing to have some strength to the pull side. The stance is balanced throughout, uses his entire body to hit the baseball. The front foot is slightly open, feet are set wider than shoulder height, and the hands are loaded up at shoulder height, with some tilt to the bat. For timing, uses a controlled leg raise, gains ground with stride foot, hands have some coil to them during the trigger. The swing is level to up, stays through the baseball, does a very good job of keeping weight and momentum going straight, look for big things this spring offensively. Defensively, prep steps and the approach into the ball are good, keeps feet moving throughout. The hands work, fields out front, works from the ground up, transfer is clean and on time. The arm action has average length for and infielder, ball comes out of a natural ¾ slot, clocked at 82 mph, plenty of strength to play the left side. Projects for me as a third baseman, game continues to get better.

Thirty-Yard Dash: 4.14

Exit Velocity: 83 mph

Arm Velocity: 82 mph

12/4/16

5-foot-9, 152-pound, average athletic frame. The hands and wrists have strength and some fast twitch to them. The shoulders are squared off, has room to fill out and add mass on. A right-handed hitter, who is aggressive, who routinely makes solid contact. The swing has strength to it. The hands are loose at shoulder height, the lower half is in line, being slightly wider than shoulder width. For timing gets the hands back into a good loaded position and uses a leg kick for timing, gains ground with stride and gets momentum into swing. The swing is level to up and finishes with one hand. The tee exit velocity was 84 mph, with life in the barrel. The approach was more middle to the pull side, shows potential to have gap power as he gets stronger and continues to work at it. The sixty yard dash was clocked at 7.66. Defensively, worked out in both the outfield and infield. The arm was clocked at 78 mph from the outfield, had easy carry and life to it, was thrown on a line and downhill. In the infield, shows good steps and instincts to the baseball. The arm is by far is best tool, clocked at 79 mph, it’s short, clean and quick on the backside. Feeds and flow are good starting the double play. A move to third might be the best way to go for the future, shows to have plenty of arm to play there. Good looking young player, high follow for me.

10/30/16
Had a really good day at New Haven as he is very good looking player. Threw from the outfield, throwing 78 mph with carry and explosion through the ball. The approach in the outfield is done properly. In the infield, shows good prep steps and a solid glove. The arm is very advanced for his age, throwing 79 mph across the diamond. Ran 5.0 down the line on his dig to first base. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 84 mph. The bat is direct to the ball. The bottom half is under control as he has a small pick up and put down of the front foot. The hands work and the barrel works appropriately. Good looking prospect to follow as he matures.

NY All-Star Games (September 17, 2016)
Wainwright stands in at 5-foot-8, 145-pounds with a lean athletic frame. Ran a 7.96 – 60. Offensively- Sets up slightly open with his feet outside his shoulders. Hands held in front of his back shoulder with some pre-pitch movement. On pitch his trigger is quick knee raise into a stride forward to square up to the pitcher with his hands moving back into a good hitting position. Hands are quick to the zone with a good bat path through to a high one handed finish. Good lower half rotation getting whole body into swing. Fluid swing but tends to jump at the ball. Quieting the swing would bet more bat control. Does explode through contact with some gap potential; 83 MPH exit velocity. Defensively- Good footwork and approach to get in front of baseball. Funnels in and transitions to throwing hand quickly. Moves well laterally and fields the ball on the run under control. Positive actions in the middle of the diamond. Displayed a positional velocity of 75 MPH.
