6-foot-3, 170-pound athletic long frame. Projectable during batting practice, Velez clocked an exit velocity of 89 mph. (70.56 mph bat speed average). (22.33 mph hand speed average). Begins in a quiet athletic stance with a smooth small load, then uses a controlled leg kick. Has raw electric bat speed, short upward swing plane and high good extension on his finish. He found lots of barrels with tons of loud contact. Gap to gap line drive approach. Solid in the infield, recorded a position velocity of 83 mph; had athletic smooth footwork, a clean natural exchange, and soft hands. Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball out front. Used a loose quick arm action and a high ¾ slot while showing consistent accuracy to the bag. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 7.71. Advanced on the mound, showing quick arm speed he had a loose quick arm action with a high ¾ arm angle. Tall-and-fall up-tempo type pitcher and shows easy effort. Showed strong balance point and in line shoulders. Lands square with an athletic finish. Sat with his fastball at 81-84 mph; had arm side command and hard running action. (Max spin 2180; Avg 2005). Throws a 1/7curveball (62-64) with down in the zone command and swing and miss action. (Max spin 2121; Avg 2019). His splitter (75-76) had decent control and late action. A big time sleeper off the mound, look for a monster jump in velocity at some point.

6-foot-3, 170-pound lean and athletic, rounded shoulders, longer limbs, with plenty of room for added weight gains. Above average on the mound, showed quick arm speed, he had a high ¾ arm angle and a loose arm action. Up-tempo type pitcher who shows some effort. Showed tall balance point and even shoulders. Lands square with a falling off finish, could stay on it a tick longer. Threw his fastball 83-86 mph; had arm side control and running action with heavy movement. He showed control low in the zone and slurvey action on his 1/7 curveball 63-64 mph, needs to throw the breaker with more fastball hand speed. This one shows a ton of projection, arm is super loose and clean, look for another jump at some point.
