1/27/18- Athletic build on lanky 6-foot-1 frame with room to grow. Athletic, twitchy actions. Projects as strength-athletic combo. Offensively, he has a patient approach in the box and quick hands that can handle velocity. Switch hitter with pull power from the left side and can consistently square it up. Line drive approach from the right side. Registered a 92 mph exit velocity in the cage. In the field he is smooth with hands to match and has a solid arm, topping out at 80 mph across the diamond. Has a lot of untapped physical potential and is a solid athlete. Clocked in at 7.60 seconds for his 60 yard dash time. Strong follow.
11/02/17- Freeland looks every bit the part of a future, middle of the order left side infielder at a high level. An athletic, 6-foot-1, 170-pounds, Freeland has proportional strength throughout, and looks like he will pack on a considerable amount of muscle in the future. Whether that added physicality forces him to third base is yet to be seen, but the young infielder has the hands and arm strength to stick at shortstop, for now, and play it at a high level. At the plate, he sets up balanced in a slight crouch with his hands held high. Rocking his weight back with shorter hand movement back, he takes a short stride before utilizing a direct path to the ball on a level plane with quick hands through the zone. He currently features gap to gap power, but has a chance to add to that as he continues to fill out.
10/15/17- Looks like he is on his way to becoming an elite prospect in the class. Showing proportional strength in his athletic, 6-foot-1, 170-pound frame, Freeland moves well at shortstop while exhibiting the hands and arm strength necessary to be a left side defender. He appears to have a frame and swing that should allow him to work gap to gap at the plate with ease in the future.
