04/25/17- High Point recruit. Winger has a long, lean, athletic frame and worked mostly off of an 84-86 mph fastball and a 71-73 mph curveball that flashed quality depth. He would go four innings for Jensen, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out three.

2/14/16- Committed to High Point.

8-14-19: Winger was dominant in relief this summer for Y-D, striking out 22 batters in 17.1 innings of work while allowing just nine hits and six walks (1.04 ERA/0.87 WHIP/.150 BAA). The lanky 6-foot-5 righty sat in the low-90s with his fastball out of the windup, dropping into the upper-80s from the stretch, and showed three fringy secondaries with a soft upper-70s slider with slurvy action, low-to-mid-70s curve that he struggled to finish, and an upper-70s changeup with soft dive. There’s lots of room in the frame to hang additional strength and the foundation is strong enough here that it isn’t unreasonable to expect some growth in his arsenal between now and next June. At a minimum, if he can tighten his slider while maintaining the two-plane action, Winger could project as an interesting fastball/slider mid-relief arm and Day Two target. (Faleris)
