04/05/17 - Downs has consistently shown all around tools and this outing was no different. Although the at-bats didn’t translate to hits, he looks the part in the box with above average bat speed and an advanced gap-to-gap approach. He really showed well defensively, ranging to both his right and left making all of the plays with a quick first step while working through the ball under control with soft hands. The final play, a slow roller that took him to third base side of the mound, he charged the ball and under control with a quick transfer showed his above average arm with an easy flick of the wrist thro that that plenty on it and was right on target.

10/23/16- Miami recruit. The athletic shortstop continued to show why he is considered to be one of the top middle infielders in the class. He consistently showed the ability to stick defensively at short with solid all around actions. He also went 5-for-12 on the event with a double, triple, five runs scored and five stolen bases in four games.

10/16/16- Miami recruit. Stands at 6-foot, 180 pounds with a good lower half, live body, and displays smooth, athletic actions all over the field. In the field he shows good range, a quick first step to the ball, and a quick release. Uses all of the field at the plate, singled into right field during the game. He also showed his athleticism running a 4.26 and 4.5 home to first times. Very interesting athlete and as he continues to progress offensively, he will have a chance to be a high end shortstop come June.

7/18/16- Committed to the University of Miami.

6/5/16- University of Central Florida recruit, Downs is a 6-foot 180-pound shortstop who is very athletic with a quick first step, above average range and good hands in the middle. At the plate he has quick hands making consistent contact with gap-to-gap power.

10/7/15- Committed to University of Central Florida

10/6/15- Strong and athletic frame with loose actions all over the field. Upright at the plate, gets a separation for his load, has a loose and easy swing. Plus bat speed and the ball jumps off his bat. Soft hands in the field with light feet and an easy above average arm across the diamond.
