5/24/15 - A polished lefty with a good delivery and a FB at 90-92 with arm side run and downhill tilt. The CV is occasionally an avg ML pitch at 72-74. He was more of an 86-90 guy before this Spring but had made a jump and had a very good, very consistent Spring. Could be a good draft.

5/20/15 -  A polished lefty with a good delivery and a FB at 90-92 with arm side run and downhill tilt. The CV is occasionally an avg ML pitch at 72-74. He was more of an 86-90 guy before this Spring but had made a jump and had a very good, very consistent Spring. Could be a good draft.
3/24/15 - South Carolina commit. 6-foot-3, 200 pound left hander with a strong loose body similar to Jon Lester. Loose quick arm with an over hand slot. Deep in back with a high front side. Short stride, lands in line, rock and fire type delivery. Fast ball was 86-92 mph with late life and good downward tilt. Pitched at 89-90 mph, 2 seam fast ball was 86-88 mph with a bit more life. Reached back and got 92 mph when he wanted to. Curve ball was 72-74 mph with a loopy downer rotation. Flashed ML avg. The slider was basically the same pitch with more velocity at 77-81 mph. Slider had a little more depth and was a solid avg ML pitch. Change up was 77-78 mph. Showed good arm speed with the same fast ball action. Stuff was much better down in the zone. Competed very well. Stepped it up when a runner got to third base. Threw a complete game, shutout, 1 hitter, 10 Ks, 1 BB. Could be a good 2015 draft.
6/26/14 - Allen has a durable frame at 6-foot-3, 200 pounds. He pitches with a compact delivery and minimal effort. He sat 86-87 out of the windup and show varying velocity out of the stretch, dipping into the low 80s at one point. He throws a soft, loopy curveball at 68-70. While he slows his arm on his offspeed stuff at times, his changeup flashed some fade and dropped out of the zone on occasion.
