03/22/17 - had a standout day at the plate by going 4-for-4 which included a double that was laced into the right-center field gap off of RHP Nick Storz. Strong, solid athletic build. Hits from an open stance and is patient in the box. Doesn’t chase pitches out of the zone. Works the count. Can drive the ball with authority when he squares it up. UNC Charlotte recruit.

03/21/17 - has a strong, physical build and has noticeably leaned out over the winter months. Quick swing from the left side of the plate, still needs to get more out of his lower half. Went 1-for-4 at the plate with a single. UNC Charlotte recruit.

8/11/16- Committed to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
6/22/16- The 6-foot-3 210-pounder is already physical with room to continue to get stronger.  Esplin has good rhythm and looks very comfortable in the box. He has a balanced, strong lower half which he uses well while also being able to keep his hands back and create a slightly uphill swing with a good path through the zone creating some present power. In the game he had three hits, including a double, showing an advanced approach.  In the outfield Esplin has a strong and accurate arm, topping at 89 mph, and takes good routes to ball.
4/1/16 (IMG Classic)- 6-foot-3, 210 pounder with a strong, athletic, projectable frame. Stood out at the plate during the week with strong hitting and good at-bats by stretching the count and fouling off some tough pitches. Hands move up and down and has a little toe tap for timing and rhythm before his swing. Quick hands with strong shoulders. Makes consistent contact from the left hand side with the ability to drive the ball into the gaps. Makes good turns and is aggressive one the base baths with some good baseball IQ.
3/31/16- Uncommitted junior who stands at 6-foot-3, 210 pounds with an athletic, loose, strong, and projectable body. On the mounds he has a simple, repeatable delivery and he stays in line. Clean High ¾ arm action and he sits at 83-85 mph with his fastball and throws a 76 mph changeup.
Future Games 2015 - Solid lower half 6-foot-1, 185-pound right-handed pitcher has a high paced, up-tempo delivery. Induced hitters at the Future Games to pound the ball into the ground. Operates from a short-arm action, high ¾ delivery and online finish. Fastball worked fairly straight with occasional arm-side-run, sat 83-84 mph and touched 85. Features two different breaking balls. His curveball works more 12/6, with feel, abilty to throw it for and strikes in game and some depth at 65-68 mph.  Slider has 10/4 action, tighter than the curveball. Two distinct shapes to his breaking balls which is rare to find at that age. Also, featured a change-up at 74 mph.

6.21.15 - Larger frame, solid build. Arm works from a ¾ slot, firm action. Fastball was 85-86 mph early then settled in at 81-84 mph, showed arm side run, typically left up in the zone in this outing. Threw a hard slider at 75-77 mph. Worked fairly easy, has shown good feel in the past. Showed improved velocity since last seeing him.

6.21.15 - 6-foot-1, 185-pound, left-handed hitting third baseman with broad shoulders and a strong build. At the plate hits from a crouched, slightly open stance. Smooth left-handed swing with a short path to the ball and quickness in the hands.

1.18.15 - 6-foot-1, 185-pound left-handed hitting 3B/RHP hits from an open setup, dives slightly, short stride, short, uphill bat path, natural lift to swing, took an impressive round of batting practice with line drives from gap-to-gap, 86 mph exit velocity off the tee. Defensively, threw 83 mph across the diamond from long, loose, high ¾ arm slot with some accuracy, average hands defensively. On the mound, fastball sat 81-83 mph from short, ¾ arm slot, loads knee over rubber at balance point, tall/fall delivery, slightly rushed at times, shoulders stay level throughout delivery, lands square, struggled to throw strikes as shoulders work side-to-side/get sweepy at times. Threw a 60-64 mph curveball, and a 68-69 mph slider, slider works with arm slot better as he gets around curveball. 69-73 mph changeup pulled out of the zone. Esplin has plenty of arm strength and his left-handed bat makes him a high follow prospect in the 2017 class.
7/14/14 - 6-foot, 175-pound left-handed hitting 3B/RHP who did not work on the mound at the 2017 Top Prospect Games due to his travel ball schedule.  Hits from a tall, narrow, open setup, with hands loading smoothly, a short stride, and short, slightly uphill bat path with power to his pull side producing 79 mph exit velocity.  Possesses good rhythm in swing.  Defensively, threw 66 mph across the infield, plays high after fielding, and arm did not look the same as in June at the Prospect Identification Showcase, but he had thrown a complete game on the mound on Sunday.  Ran 4.69-4.79 from home to first.

6/17/14 - 6-foot, 170-pound left-handed hitting 3B/RHP impressed with two-way ability at the plate and on the mound throwing three pitches for strikes.  Threw 79-81 mph from loose, high ¾ arm action with arm side run.  Stride direction stays online towards home plate with smooth rhythm in repeatable delivery.  11/5 curveball ranged from 62-66 mph with gradual break.  68-69 mph changeup was thrown near fastball arm speed for strikes with occasional fade.  At the plate, hits from a tall, narrow, slightly open setup with good rhythm in hands loading down and back slightly.  Showed power to his pull side, producing up to 81 mph exit velocity, well above average for his age.  Showed solid actions at third base and threw 74 mph across the infield.  Ran 7.65 in the 60.
