The box score didn’t reflect the type of impact that DeRosa had while facing high-level arm talent across the week. Professional at-bat every time he steps into the box with a couple of all-fields barrels to show for it. Tons of athleticism with lean strength in the wiry 6-foot-0, 165-pound frame. Twitchy setup at the plate in a quick trigger and fast hands paired with excellent bat-to-ball skills that allows for coverage across all quadrants of the zone. Loose wrists stand out with adjustability amongst various different mixes while showing the ability to handle premium velocity and spin. Advanced zone awareness is backed by a keen eye and feel to manipulate the barrel with ease. Takes and swing decisions are borderline plus as the hit-tool looks to carry long-term in a polished approach with gap-to-gap strength. Excellent first step with good routes to the ball across the grass. Chance to profile across all 3 outfield positions with present foot speed (6.74 60-yd) and arm strength (90 MPH) alike. It’s a tooled up profile with an extremely high-floor and big-league bloodlines that you bet on as a p4 commitment seems to be looming, and still bullish on the overall ceiling.
