8/11/2018- Peach State Games

At 6-foot-4 180-pounds Caldwell looks the part and has room to pack on the pounds. He is a fluid baseball player with good actions. Defensively he moves well and shows good footwork on the dirt. His hands work and is not afraid to make the plays on the move.  He has plenty of arm turning in an 85 mph infield velocity. At the plate he is balanced and athletic in the box with a level stroke, that produces line drive after line drive. He has enough strength and leverage, showing gap to gap power and an exit velo of 85 mph. He is not done yet either, with strength gains I see plenty of projection to his offensive game. On the mound Caldwell is not as powerful as he could be at this point.  He is athletic on the bump and has a repeatable delivery, but often he works underneath his fastball at 76-79 mph, because he does not get his elbow up consistently and loses leverage to the plate. This causes him to lose shape on his breaking ball also at 63 mph. Though he is a projectable athlete he will need to improves this throwing motion to create the needed leverage to be effective at the next level.
