Coastal Alabama commit. Layfield impacted the game in multiple ways all weekend for this Sandy Creek squad that went 3-0. A leader on both sides of the diamond, he shows a very good approach at the plate. He has a good feel for the zone, rarely swings through anything in the zone, and does a good job not expanding early in counts. He does a good job winning pitches at the plate and has the ability to use the whole field. He can really pick it at SS and makes the routine play look easy. Moves well laterally with good body control and sure hands in the middle of the field. Shows a really good arm to go along with a high baseball IQ. He closed the game and was up to 88 MPH on the mound. A gamer who thrives in the big moment.
