5/02/24
The epitome of a gamer, McGhee has shined throughout the spring for Cherokee. Armed with an advanced approach and impressive bat-to-ball skills, McGhee is a consistent tough at-bat with ability to get his best swing off against high-level arms. Primarily working gap-to-gap, the uncommitted junior showed good pull-side carry on back-to-back barrels to LCF without selling out. McGhee shows a quality glove at the hot corner with soft hands and great instincts that puts himself in position to make tough plays look easy. The high-floor profile continues to improve, and it’s becoming tough to find holes in his game.
3/13/24

The Cherokee leadoff man boasts impressive bat-to-ball skills every time we see him. Operating from a narrow base, the uncommitted junior shows quiet hands in the setup backed by excellent plate in the swing. Ability to find impact throughout the zone stands out in a gap-to-gap approach. Good lateral actions at the hot corner with confidence and flexibility to attack out in front. Fits the term gamer to a tee.

Collin McGhee, Cherokee (GA), 2025

Power: 87 max exit velocity, averaged 79.0 mph. 258' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-77 mph. Shorter arm, over the top.
Defense: Fundamental and cleaner actions up the middle. Fluid.
ATH: 1.67 and 3.91 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 25.80 max vertical.

4/01/23

5-foot-7 160-pounds. McGhee had one of the most productive nights at the plate. He led off the game with a single, had a SAC bunt where the runners came around to score, and had a SAC fly to take the lead. He had a couple great plays at 2B, and is continuing to be an on base machine for the Warriors. He looks more comfortable in the box each time I see him, and has the approach of a true leadoff hitter. He does not try to do too much, and knows if he puts it in play he has a chance to get on base with the speed.
