The uncommitted junior put on a show Wednesday night in Gray, with a two-run bomb and in an opposite field double. Mendez shows significant comfort in the box, he stays balanced through the swing and the barrel spends a lot of time in the zone allowing him to barrel velocity as well as offspeed. Mendez has great forward movement and a simple, repeatable timing mechanism. There was a great display of mechanics as he took a low and inside fastball over the right field wall on a line. After showing off the power, Mendez showed his maturity as a hitter taking an outer-half fastball to the left center gap for a standup double. One of the most consistent hitters we have seen this spring, with a tall, long frame that has plenty of room to grow. Mendez is going to be a serious problem with the stick come playoff time.

Hit: LHH. Narrow upright stance with toe tap, hands above shoulder. Quick to contact with level path, plus ability to lift the ball naturally, 69.5 mph bat speed with 15 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 90 max exit velocity, averaged 84.6 mph. 335' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-80 mph.

Delivery: Starts tall, drops into the back leg. Stays square throughout.
Arm Action: RH. Medium arm swing, over the top slot.
FB: T82, 79-81 mph. Gets a decent bit of carry on it. Good tilt when he gets it to the bottom of the zone. T1939, 1819 average rpm.
CB: 68-68 mph. Decent bit of depth to it, 12/6 shape. T1917, 1917 average rpm.
CH: 73-74 mph. Similar shape to the fastball, with a bit less carry and a bit more fade. More downward action. T1437, 1370 average rpm.
ATH: 7.88 runner in the 60. 1.93 and 4.45 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 22.10 max vertical.

Arm: RH. INF-77 mph. Over the top action, clean realease
Defense: Presents glove early, stays in legs, moves well
ATH: 7.88 runner in the 60. 1.93 and 4.45 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 22.10 max vertical.
Uncommitted. Mendez made a strong impression with a smooth left handed swing holding down the hot corner for Ola. The frame stands out, and could have real power potential down the road. He has quick hands paired with a strong lower half. The actions in the field are clean with a strong arm that could keep him over at 3B long term. He could also slide over to 1B with his athleticism. Mendez will be one to keep an eye on this summer as a strong left handed bat in the 2026 class.
