CLASS OF 2029

The Wesleyan right-hander toed the rubber for one of his first starts of the year and looked the part across a short 3.0 IP outing. Pursell went on to strike out 4 with 0 walks while only allowing 1 hit with 0 runs given up. Easy mover at 6-foot-3,175-pounds with plenty more to project and budding feel for a 3-pitch mix. Clean, repeatable delivery and gets down the mound well with present arm speed from a ¾ slot. Fastball lived 86-87 (T88 MPH) with arm-side run through the zone. Slider displays a future advanced offering down the line with feel to spin and sharp bite while showing confidence in any count at 74-76 for whiffs. Rounded out the arsenal by mixing in a quality changeup as well to LHH at 77-79 with arm-side fade and depth. The stock continues to trend up for the former Junior Future Gamer as he has staked his claim throughout the Spring as a staple inside the Top 10 for the ‘29 class ranks in the state.

The #9 2029 (#2 RHP) ranked player in GA had a very high quality 1.2 IP in relief. His name was called to hold the Paladins to their 2 run lead, and he delivered. Across his 5 batters faced, 0 reached, and 4 went down on Ks. His FB had heavy ASR at 85-87, producing weak foul offs and s/m. His SL was his best pitch of the night, with impressive 2-7 break and spin as he made batters chase often. He does have a CH option at 77-81 with potential to be another great offering from the snappy, upper 3/4 angle. Already standing 6-foot-1, Pursell screams growth and potential from his already high floor. Already with opportunities to get meaningful innings on a competitive Wolves squad, the young righty looks primed to continue his upward trend.
