Uncommitted. Nelson took the ball for the Tigers against a stout Calhoun lineup. Battling across 6-innings of work, the RHP emptied the tank throwing 100+ pitches to keep his team in it. Striking out 11 over the 6 IP and picking up his 200 HS strikeout. Working a three pitch-mix, the fastball lived 85-86 with heavy arm-side run with above-average command to either side of the plate. Showed feel for spin with a sharp slider at 72-74 that paired nicely off the fastball to induce swing-and-miss. As well as sparingly working in a kick-change at 76-78. After leaving the bump after 6-innings of work, Nelson would then deliver with a massive swing in a tie-game in the bottom of the 7th. Smoking one over the center fielders head for an easy standup 2B. He would then come around to score the game winning run in walkoff fashion. It was a gritty pitching performance from the senior and he is an uncommitted name to keep an eye on.
