The former Future Gamer has done nothing but hit over the years with more of the same continuing across the week. Remains uncommitted but is armed with present tools both offensively and defensively to make an impact across multiple levels this fall and so forth. Physical 5-foot-10, 190-pounds with above-average feel for the barrel from a well-connected LH cut. Picked up 4-hits in my look Wednesday afternoon to both the backside and the pull side as well. Transfers weight through a longer load and stays coiled well while maintaining balance. Works from a compact path with present hand/bat speed and excellent pitch recognition to match. Immense feel for the zone and advanced bat-to-ball skills with impact in the barrel with multiple 95 + exit velocities throughout. The hit tool stands out in every setting with an obvious physicality in the box and plenty of power to tap into. Advanced receiver behind the plate with strong blocking skills and plenty of athleticism in the crouch as well.

Uncommitted. Woodard burst onto the scene last year after starting the season on JV and ultimately earned himself Future Game honors where he has continued to hit in every setting since. The uncommitted junior continued his tear at the plate to open the season for the Rams Thursday night going 2-for-2 at the plate with a pair of 2B’s, 3RBI, and a BB. Woodard peppered the LCF gap with ease showing present bat speed with impressive hands through the zone. Generating leverage to all-fields displaying an innate feel for the barrel with an advanced approach to match. The bat-to-ball skills always stand out along with tremendous coverage of the plate. The feel to hit is very real for Woodard with budding power potential in a physical 5-foot-10 frame. Woodard looks poised for an even bigger season in ‘25 and to lead the club back to the State Playoffs.

6/27/24

Uncommitted. All Vernon Woodard does is hit, obliterating baseballs with ease over the course of the 16u National Championship. Showing a mature approach at the plate, Woodard highlighted an all-field approach with excellent leverage through the zone, spraying balls all over the yard. Balls jump off the bat with consistent 90 + exit velocities. Not only a standout at the plate but a standout on the bump as well. Woodard was a workhorse for the East Cobb squad that made a final four run. Coming in relief to face a potent Indiana Bulls lineup, in the late stages of the game. After pitching the first day of bracket play, Woodard was throwing on little to no rest, this had zero effect as Woodard was lights out. Exuding confidence on the bump the right hander kept his team in it. Sitting at 85-87 on the fastball, running it up to 88 with late life and arm-side run. Showed the curveball at 66-69, with depth. Woodard epitomizes the definition of a gamer and will be a must follow at Grayson in the spring after an already impressive last spring with the Rams squad from last year.

3/13/24

Woodard has become an everyday varsity starter the last few weeks to outstanding results. Physical 5-foot-10, 175-pound frame for the backstop that helps generate heavy barrels at the plate. Great balance and stays on-time from the left-side. Good feel for the zone and refuses to expand low. Very hitterish look at the sophomore overall.
