Araujo-Waiau consistently scores amongst the top in power bat categories: Trackman Max Distance (#6), Blast Hand Speed (#7) and Blast Bat Speed (#8). Arm strength is arguably Araujo-Waiau’s best tool with 89 INF velo and 78 catcher velo. Value goes way up in the eyes of MLB scouts if Araujo-Waiau can catch, posting an impressive 1.92 pop-time with little experience behind plate. Prep Baseball Hawaii’s #4 ranked 2025 and University of Hawaii commit likely won’t catch for Mililani this spring and MLB scouts likely invite him to pre-draft workouts where they can work him out behind-the-plate.

Showed his bat speed (72.4mph avg) and raw power (95.7mph EV). We put him behind plate for the first time ever and he dropped everyone’s jaws with best pop-time (1.89s) and velocity (78mph) at the event. Value just went up as C/3B/UTL. Hawaii Class of 2025 Top 10 guy now.

5-11/190, good overall strength w/powerful lower half...may have been the biggest winner of the 2024 Oahu Preseason ID, looking like not just a great get for U Hawaii Baseball but also a potential 2025 MLB draft after putting on a show in BP & first time behind the plate...eye-opening offensive & defensive measurables:
- #1 in Blast Hand Speed (24.0)
- #4 in Blast Bat Speed (72.4)
- #9 in Trackman Exit Velo (95.7)
- #4 in Trackman Distance (360 ft)
- #2 in INF velo (88.0)
- #1 in C velo (78)
- #1 in C pop-time (1.89)
Has all the pieces for plus value w/bat & in field, and that's at 3B where he's really good, add catch & value skyrockets...first time ever trying behind plate w/throw-downs, 1.89-1.97, did it easy considering first time, in front of 60 players watching closely, as last C to throw down to 2B, all knowing he doesn't catch...shows a lot about makeup & toughness, wasn't afraid & moment was far from too big, performed = plus defense as a C is a real possibility...love the bat, pwr hitter w/compact swing, got some feel for hitting & obvious future plus, maybe better pwr...#3 ranked Hawaii 2025...premium local boy commit for U Hawaii Baseball, on MLB scout radar soon & potential 2025 MLB draft.
