Long lean frame with athleticism. 7.41 runner. Body load with leg kick trigger, high back elbow setup, stays through zone, consistently finds barrel, line drive contact with mid/pull approach, 89 mph exit velocity. Above avg. athlete at first, soft hands, quick release, shows actions, 85 mph arm across infield from first base. Athletic high leg kick delivery, slight back side turn, hides ball from hitter, long arm stroke, occasional life to fastball, flashes feel for secondary, keys off breaking ball, when that starts to roll, fastball plays up and can be dominant on mound. Fastball was 85-88 mph and slider was 80-81 mph.
Thin, highly projectable 6-foot-3, 150-pound right-handed pitcher with long limbs and plenty of room for continued physical development. Loose, easy arm action from high-3/4 slot; works downhill well. Fastball ranged between 80-83, topping at 84 in his start vs. Virginia Stars. Slurve ranged between 69-72 with varying shape, inconsistent strikes with pitch. Also flashed 75 mph changeup occasionally. Competed well on mound for freshman; should continue to add velocity as he physically develops and grows into his frame. High-follow prospect.
Summer 2020:Ranked as the No. 188 prepfor the 2019 draft, Cook red-shirted as a freshman this spring for the Wildcats. The projectable, 6-foot-5, 180-pound long-limbed right-hander worked his sinking fastball in the 88-91 mph range from a three-quarter slot. He also showed good arm speed on a low-spin (1500-1660 rpm) change-of-pace at 83-84 mph. His upper-70s curve had loose spin and below average bite. Cook ended the Northwoods season with a 4.56 ERA in 23.2 IP, allowing 22 hits while striking out 21.
