Open, slightly narrow setup, pre-pitch load, stride gets back to even and average balance through contact. Fluid rhythm, long, uphill bat path, gap-to-gap approach and ball jumps off his bat at times; 93 mph exit velocity from a tee. 7.31 runner in the 60, laser-timed. Defensively, fields in the middle of his body, funnels to exchange at times. Short arm action, high ¾ to ¾ slot and throws clocked at 81 mph across the diamond.
3/13/16- 5-foot-11, 160-pound left-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.38 runner. Open stance with leg kick trigger. Strides across body locking lower half occasionally. Clean path to contact; some length. Shows some strength in bat and should improve with minor mechanical adjustments. 89 mph exit velocity. Active feet to field. Glove is solid/avg. Accurate throws to bag. 81 mph arm strength. Shows athleticism and body control in delivery. Clean arm action from ¾ slot with extension to plate. Fastball was straight at 80-82 mph. Side spin on breaking ball; small short break. Good consistency with changeup thrown for strikes.
8/4/15- 5-foot-10, 150-pound left-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.56 runner. Open stance to start. Strides across occasionally locking off lower half. Shows solid contact to pull side of field. 83 mph exit velocity off tee. Solid quickness in field with avg./ok feet. Glove is solid as well. Stop and go fielding mechanics at times. Avg. carry across the diamond with above avg. accuracy to bag at 77 mph. Simple delivery on mound with clean mechanics and short balance point. Out front and falls down mound occasionally. Fastball has solid ASR with late action at 75-77 mph. 12/6 curveball has gradual break and loose rotation. Good arm action on changeup with quality run and fade.
Eastern Iowa I.D.- 3/1/15
5-foot-10, 145-pound 2-way player. Front heel turn trigger. Rotational lower half. Works to keep hands inside ball at contact. Inverted swing plane at times. Will inside/out pitches away. Has good hands and swing is relatively loose. Solid strength in bat for freshman with 81 mph exit velocity. Average actions defensively. Has some lateral quickness to his left. Will play tall at times. Would benefit from playing through ball more and following throws. 72 mph arm strength across with average accuracy. On the mound shows a controlled delivery with good direction and body control. Fastball shows run with slight sink. Breaking ball is loose with 12/6 shape. Changeup has above average fade and run.
Quad City Open- 12/14/14
5-foot-10, 145-pound 2-way player. 7.43 60 time. 2018 switch-hitter. Shows more repeatable swing from left side. Hands stay inside ball better with more solid contact middle-pull parts of the field. 77 mph exit velocity off tee. Defensively shows tentative actions at times. Flashes correct footwork with a solid glove. Lacks strength, typical of a freshman, but has solid mechanics with a chance to continue to improve. Long sweeping ¾ arm action on the mound. Wide fastball range from 72-78 mph. Shows balance and body control in delivery. Lands slightly open with ok extension and hand speed. Will continue to develop with maturity and increased work load in weight room.
