Carson Wood: OF/RHP, (2023) Conner, KY. 5-foot-10, 140-pound. During batting practice, Wood's best exit velocity was 74 mph. Started in a quiet balanced stance with a controlled load, then used a toe tap stride. Bat speed is efficient, shows a short simple swing plane and good extension on his finish. Solid in the outfield, his throws to the bases were maxed out at 75 mph; has a natural exchange, consistent feet, and sure hands. Fielded the ball out front with athletic movement laterally. Showed a high ¾ slot with a loose arm action. On the mound, used a loose arm action and a high ¾ arm angle while showing consistent arm speed. Drop-and-drive type pitcher who uses easy effort. Threw his fastball 71-72 mph. Had slight running action. (Max spin ; Avg ). Throws a 11/5 curveball (65-66) with slight action. (Max spin ; Avg ). He has some action on his changeup (65-68).
Body Type: 5-foot-2, 100-pound thin and athletic frame.
Swing Mechanics: Simple load with minimal movement. Keeps his hands loose and loaded through contact.
Hit: Level bat path that works inside the baseball well, and goes to all fields. Has a middle-back approach.
Power: 64.7 top exit velocity off the bat in BP. Contact type bat.
Offensive Projection: Table setter with much more to come.
Field: In the outfield he plays with fluid, mechanically sound footwork. Ball skills are ahead of the curve for class.
Throw: 3/4 righty with clean arm and developing strenght.
Defensive Projection: CF/LF/2B.
