2/16/14 - 6-foot-3, 190-pound prospect with athletic build, hands work in the infield, shows good arm strength at 81 mph across the diamond. At the plate, hits from an open setup, squares front side with a short stride, wraps some in load, good use of lower half generates bat speed through the zone, level swing path with line drive production, shows some pull-side power, showed big increase in tee exit velocity to 93 mph, ran 7.54 60 yard dash (best has been 7.35 at summer event).
6/11/13 - 6-foot-3, 190-pound prospect with athletic frame, good projectability, medium to long arm action, loose arm, high ¾ arm slot, fastball sat 82-83 mph with good arm side run, curveball showed late 11/5 action at 71-72 mph, good command, consistently pounds the zone. As position player, shows soft hands, good feet around the bag, arm strength 79 mph across the infield. At the plate, hits from open setup, short stride, wraps some in load, lower half gets involved in swing, long swing path, shows bat speed, 86 mph tee exit velocity, ran 7.35 60 yard dash. Projects best on the mound, solid 2015 prospect.
2/18/13 - Mallory is a 6-foot-3, 190-pound RHP with an athletic frame and good projectability. He uses medium arm action through a high ¾ arm slot to produce an 80-82 mph fastball, touching 83 with some arm side run. He showed good command and feel for his 12/6 curveball with sharp, late action that sat 69-71 mph. His changeup sat 74 mph thrown with good arm action with arm side run and sink. Mallory shows good command of all 3 pitches and is a potential high-level class of 2015 pitching prospect. As a position player, fields ball deep, decent feet around the bag, 78 mph arm strength across the infield. At the plate, hits from a wide base, short stride, good lower half torque creates good bat speed though the zone, showed the ability to hit line drives to all fields, 85 mph tee exit velocity, showed well as RHP as well, solid 2015 prospect.
