Defense: (IF) Sure hands, average footwork, packing exchange. Solid. (OF) Sure hands, consistent footwork, packing exchange. Solid. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were average.
Arm: 79 mph infield velocity. 80 mph outfield velocity. Loose arm action, ¾ slot.
Speed: 7.01 (60-yard).
5-foot-10, 156-pound lean frame. Above average at the plate, Welch clocked an exit velocity of 85 mph. Started in an open stance with a compact load, then used a short stride. Bat speed was above average, used long swing plane and high finish. Barreled up a few balls during his round. Gap to gap approach. Above average while in the infield, made throws up to 80 mph; has sure hands, and consistent feet. Laterally, his movements were athletic. On the mound, showed the most control on his curveball (61-63 mph) when he stayed on top. Successfully located his changeup for a strike at (62-62 mph). Fastball Threw his fastball 68-73 mph with a max of 74 mph;
